Koga F3 5.0 in Test: Dutch sprinter

The Koga F3 5.0 is a middle-class trekking and everyday model from the Dutch premium brand that has been very successful for years. The success is based, among other things, on the high-quality frame, which can reliably promise a long service life. In addition, it has a very modern design and shines with super-smooth tube transitions. The strands that are routed inside the head tube make this particularly effective.

Thanks to the high-contrast color scheme, a perceptibly sporty note is created. The front is impressively long and high due to the spring integrated in the steerer tube. A typical Koga design element are the additional lights integrated in the head tube and above the rear light.

Defy the wind

At the high front, the upper body stretches noticeably upwards, and you get a healthy posture with the best all-round view. The hands remain relaxed on the moderately curved handlebars, and the buttocks feel comfortable on the saddle for longer despite the cut that appears a bit too slim. The integrated front spring receives less pressure from above and therefore responds rather tightly. It mainly reacts to crossing edges. The frame is tuned tighter. You can feel it, even if the seat post gives way a little.

The slim tire runs ideally on perfect, i.e., Dutch, cycle paths. In Germany, one wishes for more air cushions. The frame would do that. In view of the seat geometry, the sporty appearance of the F3 is surprising at first, but it soon knows how to inspire when you happily brave the wind. It flies along elegantly on long, straight bike paths in the low German lowlands. In addition to lightning-fast acceleration, the bike also has clear agility, which you can also use in the city.
