Bicycles Cadiz in Test: Well Calculated Everyday Bike
The brand name is as banal as it is ingenious: Bicycles is a brand of Bike & Outdoor Company GmbH & Co. KG, or BOC for short, which has a steadily growing network of branches. The focus of the brand is an urban portfolio between city bikes and trekking bikes.
Comfortable, moderately sporty, and suitable for everyday use. This is what Cadiz stands for. The model is available with a deep frame, as shown here, as well as in the “men’s” version. The tried-and-tested city hub gears from Shimano stand for everyday reliability, here combined with a belt drive that is easy on the trouser legs.
The fact that the sales price is still an attractive 999 euros is the result of a product and price policy that is deliberately based on practical considerations and includes affordability. The rest of the equipment is also noteworthy. The frame makes a high-quality and durable impression, for example, with the 36-spoke wheels. Compromises will most likely have to be made due to the higher weight.
Convenient and direct
The rather short head tube forces a visibly steep stem. Visually irritating at first, sitting very upright as a result feels physically very harmonious. If you look straight ahead, you can enjoy your destination in everyday life or on tours.
A good suspension fork brings comfort. The stiff rear end, adapted to the belt, ensures good directness. Overcoming the higher weight costs a few grains. After that, the Cadiz runs steadily and quickly relaxes on its way. Loaded from above, the spring support can also contribute its good comfort potential to the enjoyment account.
The low step-through has less of an impact on driving stability than expected. However, the tube set used also makes a very solid impression. Which is also reflected in the weight.
